STILLWATER, Okla.—Oklahoma State's women's basketball team fell to West Virginia, 77-54, in Gallagher-Iba Arena on Wednesday afternoon in front of 1,683 of fans.
OSU got the first basket of the game, but WVU opened with an 11-0 run. Freshman Ja'Mee Asberry stopped the run with a 3-pointer as WVU took an 18-10 lead into the second quarter.
The Mountaineers opened the quarter with back-to-back 3-pointers, but the run was halted by a layup with a foul from sophomore Abbie Winchester. WVU hit five shots from behind the arc in the second quarter and headed into halftime with a 40-25 lead.
Sophomore Vivian Gray hit a 3-pointer and drew the foul to get the third quarter started for the Cowgirls, but was erased by a quick 5-0 run by the Mountaineers as they continued to keep the lead the rest of the way.
Gray led the way for the Cowgirls scoring 23 points and getting two steals. Jones scored five points along with seven rebounds and a block.
The Cowgirls will be back in action to take on Kansas at 1 p.m. on Feb. 23 in Stillwater.
