Cowboys Are Texas Bowl Bound
December 08, 2019 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER – For the 14th consecutive season, Oklahoma State fans have the opportunity to watch the Cowboys play in a bowl game, as the Cowboys have accepted an invitation to face Texas A&M in the Academy Sports + Outdoors Texas Bowl, which will be played in Houston on Dec. 27. It's a point of pride because OSU's is the ninth-longest active bowl streak in the Football Bowl Subdivision.
A look at the nation's longest active bowl streaks:
1. Virginia Tech - 28
2. Georgia – 23
3. Oklahoma – 21
4. LSU – 20
5. Boise State – 18
Wisconsin – 18
7. Alabama – 16
8. Clemson – 15
9. Oklahoma State – 14
10. Texas A&M - 11
Perhaps the most enjoyable part of the bowl experience for Oklahoma State fans over the years has been the fact that the Cowboys usually win. OSU has won each of its last three bowl games and four of its last five. Among all FBS teams with a minimum of 20 bowl appearances, OSU's 65.5 winning percentage ranks second.
Oklahoma State and Texas A&M are familiar with one another, having played each other every year as members of the Big 12 Conference from 1996-2011. The Cowboys won each of the final four meetings between the two schools before the Aggies joined the Southeastern Conference. Only once have the two teams met in a bowl game, with Texas A&M a 33-16 winner over OSU in the 1981 Independence Bowl.
