December 06, 2019 | Cowboy Football
Oklahoma State running back Chuba Hubbard was announced as one of five finalists for the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award yesterday. A few notes on Hubbard as ballots are filled out for the Heisman Trophy and the Doak Walker Award:

- Hubbard beat out Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts and others for Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year honors as voted by the league's coaches. Of the three finalists for the Doak Walker Award (Hubbard, Jonathan Taylor of Wisconsin and J.K. Dobbins of Ohio State), Hubbard is the only one to be recognized as his conference's offensive player of the year. Taylor and Dobbins lost out to Ohio State's Justin Fields for Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year honors.
- Hubbard leads the FBS in rushing yards, rushing yards per game, yards after contact (via Pro Football Focus), all-purpose yards, all-purpose yards per game and rushes of at least 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80 and 90 yards.
- Hubbard built his stats against rush defenses similar to Jonathan Taylor. The average rushing yards allowed by Oklahoma State's 12 opponents is 154.4. The average rushing yards allowed by Wisconsin's 12 opponents is 155.2.
