Cowgirl Soccer’s Rodriguez Tabbed All-American

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Oklahoma State junior Kim Rodriguez has added her name to an elite list as she was named a 2019 United Soccer Coaches All-American.
A defender for the Cowgirls, Rodriguez was selected to the United Soccer Coaches All-America Second Team. She is just the fifth All-American in OSU program history, joining Yolanda Odenyo (2006-08), AD Franch (2010-12), Melinda Mercado (2010-11) and Haley Woodard (2017).
"We are incredibly excited for Kim — to be selected as an All-American by the United Soccer Coaches is a tremendous honor," said OSU head coach Colin Carmichael. "Kim is the fifth All-American in our program's history and when you consider all of the great players who have competed here, to be one of five recognized at this level is special.
"I am so proud of how Kim represents our program when competing for Oklahoma State and when on duty with the Mexican National Team. I am also looking forward to more special moments with Kim in her senior season."
Rodriguez, who hails from Porter, Texas, started 20 games for the Cowgirls in 2019 and anchored a defense that posted 10 shutouts and allowed just 18 goals in 22 contests as OSU turned in a 16-3-3 record, captured a Big 12 Conference regular season championship and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Women's Soccer Championship.
A United Soccer Coaches All-Midwest Region First Team performer and a unanimous All-Big 12 First Team selection, Rodriguez tallied three goals and seven assists on the season. Her seven assists were a career high and ranked eighth in the Big 12.
