Cowboys Tyler Lacy and Dru Brown Meet With Media in Houston
December 24, 2019 | Cowboy Football
HOUSTON – Oklahoma State football players Tyler Lacy and Dru Brown met with media members following Tuesday's practice at the University of Houston's TDECU Stadium to discuss bowl preparation and spending the holiday in Houston.
Defensive Lineman Tyler Lacy
On being at the bowl:
"I would be home spending time with my family, opening gifts, but this time spending it with the guys and trying to win a bowl game is phenomenal."
On bowl preparation vs. regular practice:
"We still come down here and practice, but we're enjoying our time on the trip and enjoying what the bowl gives us like the rodeo and what we're doing tonight."
On the bowl activities:
"It adds to the excitement, especially yesterday at the rodeo. We were trying to be competitive, but we fell short. It was a really fun time out there. It's hard because you have to know when to turn it on and off and when to get to work and be mature."
On how he's spending Christmas Eve/Christmas:
"I think we're going to Dave and Buster's tonight, so that should be fun. My family will come in before the game, so I'll see them then."
Quarterback Dru Brown
On being in Houston for the bowl:
"Obviously, being with family is awesome, but any time you're playing football at this time of year it's something special. We're enjoying ourselves here. I was able to go home for a little over a day. Got to check on my dog and hang out with my folks and stuff. It was a lot of fun, and I'm glad coach Gundy allows us to do that, so we get our family fix then come out here, put in a little more work and play in a game."
On bowl preparation:
"It has been kind of like camp. We're just continuing to try and improve. The cool thing about bowl prep is you have your game plan and you get to practice it a lot. We're not really wishy washy. We know exactly what we're gonna do. We get a lot of reps at it versus a lot of different looks."
On the team's demeanor:
"I think we're all excited. We've been practicing for quite a while now, so we just want to play the game already."
On Chuba Hubbard playing in the bowl game:
"It's real important to have Chuba. He's probably one of the best players in the country, so anytime you have a guy like that who decides to play, it's going to help us."
On his best Christmas gift:
"One year I got a go-kart, and I was really excited. I probably used that thing for five or six years. So that probably was my favorite Christmas gift."
