A Quick Nine With Dillon Stewart
December 18, 2019 | Cowboy Golf
1. What drew you to OSU?
"To start, the history. We have won 11 National Championships and I love Coach Bratton and Coach Darr, they're really good coaches. I thought I would fit in and have them push me to become a better player. I thought this was the best opportunity to advance to the next level and play professionally."
Â
2. How has your family made an impact on your golf career?
"My dad actually started me in golf. He was a club pro. I saw and wanted to be like my dad like young kids do. He taught me until I was 12 years old. He's been there from the beginning, so every time I get to experience a golf memory with him, I savor it."
Â
3. Any golf superstitions?
"When I mark my ball, I put it heads up"
Â
4. If you could eat one meal for the rest of your life what would it be?
"A big 24-ounce steak with loaded baked potatoes and green veggies"
Â
5. What golfer do you look up to?
"Rickie Fowler, he inspired my OSU dream. I like a lot of young guys like Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas and that generation"
Â
6. What do you do when you're not playing golf?
"I like hanging out with friends and playing racquetball."
Â
7. What is like playing at a facility like Karsten Creek?
"It's amazing, can't ask for anything better. It's top of the class. It feels like if you need something, they have it for you. It's so good for working on every aspect of your game."
Â
8. OSU is known for its golf program, what does it mean to you to play at a school where golf is so important?
"It means a lot, we are held to a high standard. Coach Holder being the athletic director, and he's the former golf coach here. Coach Bratton played here and won national championships here, has a really high standard. That what we try to strive for. Our motto is to get a little better each day. It's a thing where not a lot of kids get to experience. That's what we work for and is the end goal."
Â
9. What's it like being a part of this fraternity?
"I have only been here since August and we became a family. When all the guys come back, that's just amazing to see because you don't see that anywhere else. You don't see all the PGA tour players coming back. There are so many alumni who remain a part of this program. It's just a good feeling to have."
