STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's women's basketball team won its 14th consecutive home opener on Tuesday night inside Gallagher-Iba Arena with a 62-47 victory over the Idaho Vandals.
OSU entered the second quarter with a 13-9 lead over the Vandals. Freshman Lauren Fields ignited the scoring for the Cowgirls by drawing two fouls and converting all four foul shots as the Cowgirls stretched the margin to double digits.
Head coach Jim Littell's squad led 29-15 at the break.
OSU slowly built a commanding lead into the second half. Sophomore Ja'Mee Asberry set the tone with consecutive layups to push the lead to 18 points to start the third.
A strong defensive effort sent OSU into the fourth quarter with a 22-point lead over the Vandals. However, Idaho used a 13-0 run to get within single digits with two minutes remaining.
For the game, OSU held Idaho to a 27-percent shooting night, including a 7-of-35 mark beyond the arc.
In her Cowgirl debut, junior Natasha Mack led the team with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Fields and junior Vivian Gray finished with 10 points apiece.
The Cowgirls will be back in Gallagher-Iba Arena Friday Nov. 8 to play Lamar at 11 a.m.
