November 04, 2019 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER – Three Oklahoma State football players earned Big 12 Player of the Week honors Monday following Saturday's win over TCU, as Chuba Hubbard was named the offensive player of the week, Kolby Harvell-Peel was named the defensive player of the week and Spencer Sanders was named the newcomer of the week.
Hubbard became the first player ever to surpass 200 rushing yards against a Gary Patterson-coached defense, finishing the game with 223 yards to bring his FBS-leading season total to 1,604. His 92-yard run in the third quarter tied for the fourth-longest rushing play in Oklahoma State history, and also marked the longest rush allowed by TCU since a 95-yard rush in the 1993 season.
Hubbard has now rushed for at least 100 yards in each of the last seven games, which marks the longest active streak in the FBS. He has also rushed for at least 100 yards in 11 of his past 13 games and has at least one rushing touchdown in every game this season. His efforts against TCU marked just the eighth time a player has rushed for 200 yards with 20 or fewer attempts in a Big 12 game.
The defensive honor went to Harvell-Peel after he forced three turnovers in OSU's seven-point win over TCU, including two interceptions and a fumble recovery. He added six tackles and two pass break ups, both of which came on third-down plays in the fourth quarter. He has now been credited with five turnovers this season, including three interceptions and two fumble recoveries, while adding two forced fumbles.
Sanders earned the newcomer award after he finished with 246 yards of total offense. He threw for 158 yards and two touchdowns on 9-of-15 passing while adding 88 rushing yards. Responsible for several long plays on the day, Sanders had completions of 57, 47 and 22 yards, as well as five rushes of 10 yards or longer.
The honors mark Oklahoma State's sixth, seventh and eighth weekly conference honors of the season. It marks the third Big 12 weekly honor for Hubbard, the second for Harvell-Peel and the second for Sanders.
