Cowboys Discuss Bedlam
November 26, 2019 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER – Select Oklahoma State football players met with media Tuesday to discuss the team's upcoming Bedlam matchup against No. 7 Oklahoma this Saturday in Stillwater. Some of their comments:
Running Back Chuba Hubbard
On Bedlam:
"It's like any other game for me. Obviously, it's a rivalry, but I'm going to prepare like any other week, go out and play hard."
On Oklahoma's defense:
"They have a great defense. They fly around and do a lot of great things. Overall, they're really good."
On catching the ball:
"Like I've always said, I try to do my best. Whether they can pass me the ball or I run it, I just want to help my team succeed."
Quarterback Dru Brown
On OSU's performance against West Virginia:
"I think as a unit, we played pretty well. There were some things we could do better but we're focusing on those this week. We watched the tape, learned from it and now we're on to next week."
On last week's preparation for West Virginia:
"I think that's just preparation. The coaches do a good job of getting me ready as well as just watching tape on your own and getting yourself ready."
On making first start for Oklahoma State against West Virginia last week:
"There's only so much people can do on defense. I like to think that I've seen a lot of things defensively. I was thankful that I could put the ball at the right place at the right time for the most part."
Cornerback A.J. Green
On Bedlam:
"I have a great feeling about this week. I feel like we have all the tools to go get it done. It means a lot to me and the team. We know it's a big rivalry coming into town, in our place at Boone Pickens. We are ready to get rolling."
On Jalen Hurts:
"I feel like he is the main factor. We all know that he is like a running back with the football. He can extend plays and they like to do a lot of quarterback runs with him."
Cowboy Back Jelani Woods
On Dru Brown:
"As an offense, just getting him started and letting him do his thing was very important. Protecting him and letting him go through his reads so he can generate offense, which he is very good at. Both him and Spencer Sanders are very good at it. Just letting him get started was basically the ideal standard that we wanted to implement on Saturday."
On injuries on the roster:
"If one man goes down, the next man steps up. Right now, we just got to stay cultured and stick to it, no matter who goes down. We just stay to the standard."
On Bedlam:
"It's going to be a good game. Our defense is going to bring its A-game. Offensively, we are going to try and match that same intensity. It should be a really good matchup."
Offensive Lineman Johnny Wilson
On Bedlam:
"I like playing OU's defense. Those guys are really athletic and hard to play against. It's a challenge and I like it. Last year and the year before that, my best games came against OU; I hope to do the same this year. It's going to be a game. It's going to be hard-nosed game."
On OU's linebackers:
"Those guys are physical too. Since we got Coach Dickey, we've been getting to the second level pretty well."
On Dru Brown:
"Dru is really level-headed and has been preparing for something to happen. He always prepared like he was going to play. He never took a week off. It's nice to see him out there. I expected nothing less of him, to go out and have a great game."
Safety Tre Sterling
On practice this week prior to Bedlam:
"We try to go into practice and not put them on a pedestal. We want to treat them just like any other team in the Big 12, because anyone can beat anyone on any given day, no matter who they are. So we're going to work hard every day of the week, play to the best of our ability and see what the outcome will be by the end of the day on Saturday."
On OSU's defense this season:
"It's really just Knowles' play calling and his genius mind."
On 50/50 balls against West Virginia:
"We definitely knew where they were. That just comes from watching film all week. Knowing cuts, knowing inside foot back, near foot back and stuff like that. By those cuts, we can tell by a high chance what they are going to run and it just played in our favor."
