STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's women's basketball team improved to 5-0 Saturday afternoon with a 69-38 Victory over Rice inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.
In the first quarter, freshman Lauren Fields helped lead OSU offensively, getting the Cowgirls within 17-15 after closing out the first quarter with a 3-pointer.
The second quarter saw the Cowgirls use a 17-0 run to race out to a 39-19 lead. Overall, outscored the Owls 27-4 in the period to take a commanding 42-21 lead at the break.
The Cowgirls continued their defensive pressure in the third, holding Rice to seven points and taking a 54-28 lead into the final 10 minutes.
Defensively, the Cowgirls forced 28 turnovers and limited the Owls to a 29.5 percent shooting effort.
Junior Vivian Gray led all scorers with 16 points to go with five rebounds and three assists, while classmate Natasha Mack logged her fourth double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Fields added 12 points, while sophomore Ja'Mee Asberry dished out six assists.
The Cowgirls will take on top-ranked Oregon Nov. 28 at 2:15 p.m. at the Paradise Jam in the Virgin Islands.
