Cowboys Discuss Kansas
November 12, 2019 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER – Select Oklahoma State football players met with media Tuesday to discuss the team's upcoming conference home matchup against Kansas this Saturday in Stillwater. Some of their comments:
Running back Chuba Hubbard
On the bye week:
"It was a good time to get our bodies right, fix our errors and continue to head in the right direction. Every day, I try to get better but I was really just trying to rest my body."
On Kansas:
"Every team is good in the Big 12. They had close games with Texas, Iowa State and OU. They're a great team that plays physical and flies around, and they should be a good test."
On continuing to build momentum:
"Just continue building off success in every way and not being complacent. We are limiting our mistakes and it's paying off."
Offensive Lineman Ry Schneider
On playing different offensive line positions:
"I just try to step up and do my part for the team. I just focus, make sure I know all the positions and all the calls. Once you get center down, it makes the other positions easier to play too."
On Kansas:
"They look a lot better than they have in years past. They look physical, and they look strong up-front. Their linebackers play really good. I think as long as we can get a man on a man, we'll be able to let Chuba Hubbard do the rest."
On what Johnny Wilson means to the offensive line:
"He's a leader. he leads us all in the right direction. His work ethic on and off the field is big."
Wide Receiver Dillon Stoner
On the Kansas defense
"They have a lot of athletes. They have some great guys on the perimeter who will mix up the coverage. I know they have a linebacker who is a true freshman that's starting and that says a lot about him. Great defense, so we know we have to come prepared. They've lost a lot of close games so we know we're gonna have to go out there and just play."
On becoming more comfortable in his role:
"The more you do it, the more comfortable you'll become. I've had more and more reps at it and that helps a lot every day going out there and working. Especially with Coach Dunn as your coach, he's gonna make sure that you're ready to go."
On facing Les Miles
"It's awesome, he's obviously a very prestigious coach. He's well on his way to turn Kansas around. Like I said earlier, those close games could have gone either way and Kansas just came up short. They are a great team. Great defense, great offense, we're just gonna have to be ready to go."
Linebacker Kevin Henry
On replicating success:
"We want to go out there and play our ball, don't do anything more and don't do anything less. We want to continue to be assignment-sound and play as hard as we can to win"
On his sixth year:
"It just hit me. I realized I could have another year so I talked to some people about it. I asked at the beginning of the week and found out at the end. I was excited and believed I should get it because I only played one game that year. When I found out officially, I called everyone and told them I get another year to play football."
