STILLWATER – Oklahoma State women's tennis head coach Chris Young has added Lenka Stara to his program, it was announced on Wednesday. Stara will join the team beginning in the spring of 2020.
"I am thrilled to add Lenka to our roster for the spring," Young said. "She is a player I have watched several times, and I am always impressed with her ball-striking ability and competitive spirit. She will make a real difference for our program this spring."
Stara is a native of Slovakia and is just 19 years old. The new Cowgirl joins the roster with 73 singles wins under her belt and 71 losses throughout her International Tennis Federation career. In doubles, Stara has posted a 93-58 career record.
She was ranked as high as No. 45 at one point in her ITF junior career and ended the year at No. 52. Stara's career-high Women's Tennis Association ranking in singles is No. 847, but she currently sits at No. 850. In doubles, Stara's career-high ranking is No. 749.
"I am so excited to join this team in January," Stara said. "I am excited to bring my energy to help us achieve all of our goals."
Stara and the rest of the Cowgirls will get their first shot at the spring season on Jan. 11, when Oklahoma State takes on Abilene Christian and Wichita State at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
