Cowgirl Duo Loses In Semifinal Match Of The Norman $15K

NORMAN, Okla. – Ayumi Miyamoto and Lisa-Marie Rioux have been taking part in the Norman $15K tournament in Norman, Okla. all week long and competed in the semifinals of the tournament on Friday.

Miyamoto and Rioux faced off against Kelly Williford and Amy Zhu, who entered the tournament as the second seed in doubles play. Zhu and Williford got the better of the Cowgirl duo in a match that would take a tiebreaker set to be decided, 4-6, 6-4, 13-11.

The Cowgirls began their tournament run with a win over the third-seeded pair of Dalayna Hewitt and Sofia Sewing, 3-6, 6-2, 10-3 on Wednesday. In the quarterfinals on Thursday, Miyamoto and Rioux defeated Dominique Schaefer and Katya Townsend, 6-0, 7-5, which would lead them to the semifinal match that they would lose on Friday.

The Oklahoma State Cowgirls will pick up play again on Saturday as a select bunch will take part in the ITA All-Americans. Follow along with OSU tennis all season long @CowgirlTennis.
