Cowboys Discuss No. 18 Baylor
October 15, 2019 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER – Select Oklahoma State football players met with media Tuesday to discuss the team's upcoming Homecoming matchup against No. 18 Baylor this Saturday in Stillwater. Some of their comments:
Running Back Chuba Hubbard
On the bye week:
"Everyone needs a break. It was a good time to reflect on the season and see what we need to change and work on."
On his rushing numbers:
"I'm blessed to be in this position, but it's not something I'm concerned about. If we are winning games and I'm not doing what I'm doing, I'm fine with that."
On Baylor's defense:
"They are a great defense that is physical and plays fast. They will be a great challenge, and we love a good challenge. If we come out and do what we do, we will come out with a win, but it's not going to be easy."
Linebacker Philip Redwine-Bryant
On the bye week:
"We got extra work in and was able to see what Baylor does more. Mainly, we got our legs back underneath us and we're in good shape to go into this Baylor game and give it our all."
On bouncing back after the loss:
"We are ready to get started again and get after it. We always have the mentality to push harder and win, and we have to have that determining factor this week."
Wide Receiver Tylan Wallace
On execution in games:
"Early in the season, we were good about it. Lately, we've fallen off, as far as penalties and execution on certain plays, but we are going to pick it up a bit."
On Baylor:
"Watching them on film, they are sound. We have to make sure we play Oklahoma State football, know what we're doing and don't make mistakes."
Corner Back A.J. Green
On the bye week:
"I feel like the bye week was very much needed for us, just to regroup and just get healthy overall. I think we used it right."
On playing Baylor:
"Bringing in an undefeated Baylor team into America's Greatest Homecoming, some people are going to be back. We're going be ready and we're going put on a show."
On the tempo in practice:
"Since we came back, I think we're fired up. We missed football, but I think the rest of the week was good. I feel like we're ready to go attack the field."
On the significance of playing Baylor:
"This game means a lot to me because I have a couple of people I know on the Baylor team. Just being from Texas, with them coming down here, I just want to get the win."
Offensive Lineman Bryce Bray
On changing positions in the offensive line:
"They haven't really been that bad. That's one thing that Coach Dickey tried to instill in all of us; that you're not just one position, you're one offensive line. It hasn't been that bad switching around. It's just kind of what he's training us to do."
On the impact of playing as one offensive line:
"I feel like it's helped me tremendously moving all over the place. It makes you not so single-minded on being a speed rush kind of guy. You could be put at guard and have to deal with a big guy who bull rushes all the time. It's great having the opportunity to broaden my perspective on the game."
On Baylor's pass rush:
"They are doing a great job this year. It will be a fun competition to go out there and go against the number one in the conference in sacks. It will be fun."
Safety Kolby Harvell-Peel
On Baylor:
"Every time you have a team coming in at 6-0, they're obviously doing something right. They have a quarterback who takes care of the ball and they have a good receiving corps. We're going to keep looking into it. We're going to keep watching film. We're going to keep trying to get better in practice and get ready for Saturday."
On Homecoming:
"As a player, for me personally, you don't really notice it too much. To me, it's just a normal Saturday. Everyone is going to be coming out, everybody has the festivities going, so it'll be a fun one. I just don't think it affects us too much."
On getting over losses:
"We just try to get on to the next week. We come in Sunday, we look over everything we did and we try to learn from our mistakes. We know it's a long season and we can't sit here and dwell on the loss to Texas Tech. We have to keep pushing."
