Team Notes
- Oklahoma State rode its defense for most of the first half, holding Oklahoma without a field goal during a 7:09 stretch before halftime to keep the game close. The score was deadlocked at 25-25 with 3:54 remaining, but the Sooners closed the first half on a 13-7 run to take a 38-32 lead into the locker room. The Cowboys held OU to 9-of-31 shooting from the field in the first half (29.0 percent), which marked the Sooners' worst shooting half of the season.
- For the game, the Cowboys limited the Sooners to 21-of-58 shooting from the field (36.2 percent), a mark that was OU's worst shooting performance of the season. This is the second consecutive game that OSU has held its opponent to its worst shooting output of the year, as the Pokes stifled Iowa State to the tune of a 36.4 percent shooting effort last time out.
- Foul trouble was a problem for Oklahoma State. Isaac Likekele picked up his second personal foul just 2:02 into the game and he was one of six Cowboys with two fouls at halftime. Lindy Waters had three. As a team, OSU was whistled for 15 personal fouls in the first 20 minutes of the game and 17 of the Sooners' 38 first-half points came from the free throw line. By the end of the game, the Cowboys committed a season-high 25 fouls as a team.
- Oklahoma opened up a double-digit lead at 42-32 less than a minute into the second half, but the Cowboys fought back and trimmed the deficit to one with 8:41 left in the game. From that point, however, OU closed the game with a 20-11 run to win. Â
- Rebounding has been an area of strength for Oklahoma State lately, with the Cowboys outrebounding each of their previous four opponents, but Saturday was an outlier to that, as the Sooners held a 51-39 advantage on the glass. Only Villanova (+13) had a larger rebounding edge over the Cowboys this season.
Player Notes
- Michael Weathers scored 13 points, grabbed a season-high seven rebounds and matched a season high by dishing out six assists. Â
- Thomas Dziagwa matched a season high with 16 points for his second double-figure scoring effort in the last three games. His 16 points Saturday matched the second-highest scoring output of his career, with the top performance a 19-point effort against the Sooners in Norman last season.
- Lindy Waters, III entered the game averaging 33.5 minutes played per game and played 36 minutes last time out vs. Iowa State, but foul trouble slashed his playing time to only 21 minutes Saturday.
- Maurice Calloo had one of his better outings of the season, going for eight points and a career-best seven rebounds. Â
