January 30, 2019 | Cowboy Baseball
IRVING, Texas – Oklahoma State's Colin Simpson has been named to the Preseason All-Big 12 Conference Baseball Team, it was announced today by the league office.
A senior for the Cowboys, Simpson was named to the team as a DH. The Preseason All-Big 12 Team is selected by the conference's head coaches, who are not allowed to vote for their own players.
Simpson is coming off a junior season in which he hit .280 and led OSU with 18 home runs and 51 RBIs, with 10 of his homers and 25 of his RBIs coming in Big 12 play. He also topped the Cowboys with 37 walks and a .578 slugging percentage.
Simpson's 18 homers were the most by an OSU player since 2008, and the total ranked second in the Big 12 and 17th nationally in 2018.
Along with those numbers, Simpson's eight stolen bases, 63 hits and 48 runs scored ranked second on the club, while his 13 doubles was third.
Simpson started all 58 games for the Cowboys in 2018 and collected All-Big 12 Second Team honors at catcher. He was also named the ABCA/Rawlings All-Midwest Region First Team catcher and earned all-tournament honors at the NCAA DeLand Regional after helping OSU to the tourney finals.
Simpson enters his final collegiate season with 31 homers, 24 doubles and 100 RBIs in 143 career games.
