STILLWATER – Oklahoma State standout Kim Rodriguez is participating in this week's training camp with the Mexico Women's National Team.
Rodriguez will be one of 26 participants at the training camp in Mexico City, which will be held from Jan. 14-22 under the direction of coach Chris Cuellar. The team is preparing for the 2019 Cyprus Women's Cup, which will be played Feb. 25-March 7.
A native of Porter, Texas, Rodriguez is coming off her sophomore season with the Cowgirls in which she was named an All-Big 12 Second Team defender and earned United Soccer Coaches All-Midwest Region honors. She led OSU with over 1,600 minutes played and tied for the team's leading scorer as she tallied 14 points on four goals and six assists. Three of her goals came via penalty kick, while her six assists ranked as the seventh most in the Big 12 Conference this season. She also led the Cowgirls with 41 corner kicks, and 12 of her 20 shots were on goal.
Rodriguez has a wealth of national team experience with Mexico at the youth level. She played for Mexico in the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in France last August after helping the team capture its first-ever CONCACAF Under-20 Women's Championship title in January.
Rodriguez also played for Mexico in a pair of FIFA Under-17 Women's World Cups, debuting in 2014 and competing again in 2016, and she was selected for the CONCACAF U-17 Women's Championship Best XI in 2016.
