September 30, 2018 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State football team jumped back into the Associated Press Top 25 this week, climbing five spots to No. 25. OSU also held onto its spot in the USA Today/Amway Coaches Poll, checking in at No. 21 in Sunday's updated rankings.
Head coach Mike Gundy and the Cowboys (4-1; 1-1 Big 12) have now been ranked in at least one of the national polls for 28 consecutive weeks, dating back to Oct. 31, 2016. OSU is coming off its first Big 12 win of the season - a 48-28 road victory over Kansas - and now holds a 22-5 record over its last 27 contests.
Running back Justice Hill carried the load for Oklahoma State offensively this week, as he racked up 189 rushing yards on 31 carries and scored his sixth rushing touchdown of the season on Saturday. Hill has logged at least one rushing touchdown in 11 consecutive games, tying him for the longest streak by a running back in Big 12 history.
Hill's exploits on the ground were accompanied by another impressive performance from sophomore wideout Tylan Wallace, who caught four passes for 104 yards and a touchdown. It was Wallace's fourth-straight game with at least 100 receiving yards, placing him with Justin Blackmon as the only underclassmen in OSU history to record four-straight 100-yard receiving games.
Three other Big 12 teams appeared alongside the Cowboys in at least one of the national polls this week. Oklahoma (No. 7/5) leads the pack, followed by West Virginia (No. 9/8) and Texas (No. 19/20) rounds out the quartet of conference teams in this week's rankings.
Oklahoma State will look to build on its Big 12 success this weekend when the Cowboys face Iowa State in Stillwater. Kickoff at Boone Pickens Stadium is set for 2:30 p.m. CT on ESPN2 or ESPNU.
