September 23, 2018 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State football team continued to hold a spot in the national rankings this week, checking at No. 21 in the USA Today/Amway Coaches Poll.
Head coach Mike Gundy and the Cowboys (3-1; 0-1 Big 12) have now been ranked in at least one of the national polls for 27 consecutive weeks, dating back to Oct. 31, 2016.
OSU, after its loss to Texas Tech this weekend, now holds a 21-5 record over its last 26 contests. The Cowboys are also 35-10 over their last 45 games.
Running back Justice Hill and wide receiver Tylan Wallace have been among the standouts for the Oklahoma State offense in recent weeks. Hill racked up 111 rushing yards on 12 carries and scored his fifth rushing touchdown of the season against the Red Raiders. It was the 10th-straight game that Hill has logged a rushing touchdown, giving him the fifth-longest such streak in Big 12 history.
Wallace, meanwhile, hauled in seven passes for 123 yards to record his third-straight 100-yard performance. He is the third player in OSU history to record such a streak, joining James Washington in 2015 and Justin Blackmon in 2010.
Hill has also crossed the century mark on the ground in nine of his last 13 games.
Four other Big 12 teams appeared alongside the Cowboys in at least one of the national polls this week. Oklahoma (No. 6/5) leads the group, followed by West Virginia (No. 12/12), the Cowboys, Texas (No. 18/22) and Texas Tech (No. 25/RV)
Oklahoma State will take part in its first game outside of Stillwater this coming weekend when the Cowboys head to Lawrence, Kansas, to continue Big 12 play. Kickoff against Kansas is set for 11 a.m. CT on FSN.
