Oklahoma State Men’s Cross Country Jumps Two Spots in National Ranks
September 18, 2018 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track, Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
STILLWATER—The Cowboys jumped two spots to No. 21 and the Cowgirls again stayed put at 26th in the third rendition of the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association National Coaches' Poll, the organization announced Tuesday.
The Oklahoma State men's squad was ranked 21st, ranking two places better than the poll released a week ago. The Cowboys have been idle since their debut on Sept. 1 in Tulsa when they came in fourth at the Hurricane Invitational.
The Cowboys are one of two Big 12 teams to be ranked. Iowa State was the other conference representative, ranked at No. 5. Texas also received votes.
Oklahoma State also stayed put at No. 2 in the Midwest Regional rankings, which were released by the USTFCCCA on Monday.
The Cowgirls remained at No. 26, where they've been comfortably since the preseason rankings. Like their male counterparts, the women's team has not raced since Sept. 1 at the Hurricane Invitational in Tulsa. The Cowgirls finished second as a team and Sinclaire Johnson won the individual race.
As was the case in the Week 1 rankings, Iowa State leads the Big 12 in 18th and Texas rounds out the trio of ranked Big 12 teams at No. 29.
The Cowgirls also came in this week's Midwest Regional rankings at No. 3.
Both squads return to action at the Nuttycombe Invitational on Sept. 28 in Madison, Wisconsin. The trip north will give OSU a chance to preview this season's national championship course.
