Cowboys Extend Lead At Olympia Fields

OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. — Oklahoma State's men's golf team carded the lone round under par on Saturday at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational to build an eight-shot cushion at Olympia Fields Country Club.
The Cowboys posted a 2-under 278 during their second round to stand at 9-under 551 through 36 holes. California entered the day tied for the top spot at the par-70, 7,281-yard layout before posting a 286 to come in at 559 and alone in second place. Alabama is third at 567.
Cal's Collin Morikawa fired a 66 during his second round to move into the top spot on the leaderboard at 7-under 133.
OSU sophomore Matthew Wolff posted a 69 and will enter Sunday's final round in second place and one shot off the pace at 134.
Senior Zach Bauchou climbed eight spots into a tie for fifth place at 138 after firing a 2-under 68. Bauchou tallied four birdies in a row at Nos. 3-6 before eventually turning in 3-under 32. His inward nine featured birdies at Nos. 15 and 18.
Sophomore Austin Eckroat also finished the day in the top 10 after posting a 73 to come in tied for ninth place at 141.
Junior Viktor Hovland and senior Hayden Wood were among the group tied for 16th place at 142. Hovland posted a 72, while Wood carded a 69 to move up 15 spots on the board.
The Cowboys will begin their final round tomorrow at 9 a.m. (CST) and will be grouped with California and Alabama.
