13 Reasons Why OSU's Win Over Missouri State Mattered

STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State football team improved to 1-0 Thursday night with a convincing win over Missouri State, 58-17. The Cowboys racked up their third-highest total in history with 732 yards of offense and their 436 rushing yards marked the eighth-most in a game in school history. Some other key notes on the win:
The Oklahoma State win…
• Marked its 23rd straight win in a home opener. The streak began in 1996 and is the second-longest active streak in the nation, trailing only Florida's streak of 28. The first win was also against Missouri State.
• Was its 43rd win in its last 49 home openers.
• Made it 19-4 in its last 23 games and 33-9 in its last 42 games.
• Made it 8-0 all-time vs. Missouri State.
• Improved Mike Gundy's career record vs. FCS teams to 11-0 and his record vs. Missouri State to 4-0.
• Improved its all-time record in season openers to 71-41-5, all-time record in season openers at home to 50-7-4 and all-time record in home openers to 84-28-5.
• Gave it wins in 10 of its last 11, 13 of its last 15 and 30 of last 38 season openers.
• Improved Mike Gundy's record in non-conference games to 46-11.
• Gave it seven straight wins in non-conference games.

Offense
Running Back Justice Hill
-Led the Cowboys with 144 yards of a total offense on a night where they finished with 732 yards to mark the third-most in a game in school history.
-Finished with 122 rushing yards, marking his 15th career game with at least 100 yards on the ground. He's hit the mark in eight of his last 11 games and in 12 of his last 18 games.
-Average yards per carry was 12.2.
-Had a 92-yard rush in the first quarter that marked the fourth-longest rush in OSU history, the 11th-longest in Big 12 history and the longest of his career. It was the longest for an OSU player since Tatum Bell's 95-yard rush vs. Texas Tech in 2003.
-Led the team in rushing yards and total offense despite not playing much of the second half.
Defense
Linebacker Calvin Bundage
-Led the Cowboy defense with seven total tackles, including six solo stops.
-Added a third-down sack in the first quarter to stop an MSU drive and help the Cowboys gain early momentum in the game.
-Also credited with a quarterback hurry in the second quarter
-OSU's most disruptive player throughout the game.
Special Teams
Returner/Running Back Chuba Hubbard
-Rattled off a 42-yard return in OSU's only kickoff return of the game.
-It was OSU's longest kickoff return since Barry J. Sanders had a 56-yard return in the 2016 Bedlam game.

-Led OSU's team with 149 all-purpose yards in his first college game on 11 total touches.
-Averaged 13.5 yards per touch.
-Finished with 65 receiving yards, 42 rushing yards, 42 return yards and a touchdown.
