STILLWATER – Oklahoma State turned in a dominating second-half performance Friday night at Neal Patterson Stadium as the 19th-ranked Cowgirls topped Lamar, 4-0, to remain undefeated on the season.
The Cowgirls netted all four goals after the break, getting two of those from All-American Haley Woodard within a four-minute span, as they improved to 2-0-0 on the year. Jaci Jones and Taylor Olson also recorded goals.
OSU tallied nine shots in the opening half, but a pair of saves by Lamar goalkeeper Jocelyn Hanrath helped keep the home team off the scoreboard. The Cowgirls also had near misses when Marlo Zoller blasted a shot that deflected off the left post, and Camy Huddleston delivered a shot that was cleared off the line by a Lamar defender.
The Cowgirls' attack broke through early in the second half as Woodard recorded her first goal of 2018 when Zoller delivered a perfect pass that hit Woodard in stride before she sent it in from 10-yards out to put OSU up 1-0 in the 54th minute. Just four minutes later, Woodard broke past the Cardinal's defense for her second score of the night.
Jones pushed the Cowgirls' lead to 3-0 in the 62nd minute. After Olson went endline and delivered a pass to a waiting Jones in the box, the junior converted for her first score of the season. Olson would cap the OSU scoring as she collected a long cross from Claire Gantzer and sent it in with just 40 seconds remaining.
Hannah Warner, Dani Greenlee and Brylee Brasher combined in goal to record OSU's first shutout of the season, with Warner and Greenlee each recording a pair of saves.
The Cowgirls finished the match with a 22-8 advantage on shots, including outshooting the visitors by a 13-3 margin over the final 45 minutes. OSU also recorded eight corner kicks on the night as Lamar suffered its first loss of the season to fall to 2-1-0.
OSU returns to action Sunday at 12:30 p.m. when the Cowgirls host fourth-ranked Florida at Patterson Stadium.
