One Last Ride: Kenneth Edison-McGruder

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State football standout Kenneth Edison-McGruder has seen his fair shares of ups and downs throughout his time in Stillwater, and in 2018, he will embark on his final collegiate campaign as one of the Cowboy defense's most experienced competitors.
Edison-McGruder was one of four true freshman to see the field in 2015, and he immediately made an impact on the defensive side of the ball for OSU. He played in 12 games, totaling 13 tackles with 10 solo stops, and finished second on the team with a season-high seven tackles vs. UTSA.
After starting safety Jordan Sterns went down with an injury at Texas, Edison-McGruder was thrust into action and he helped the Cowboys earn a crucial defensive stop to preserve OSU's 30-27 victory in Austin.
In 2016, Edison-McGruder played in all 13 games and saw his first action as a starter, as he lined up with thee first-team unit in three of OSU's last four games that season. He racked up 40 total tackles to rank as the fourth-most productive tackler of the Cowboy secondary, and 29 of his tackles were solo stops.
Edison-McGruder recorded at least one tackle in 12 games and at least four tackles on six different occasions.
The Houston, Texas, native's junior season was a bit more challenging than anticipated as he dealt with injuries that limited him to only nine appearances. Edison-McGruder started in five of those contests and racked up 21 total tackles, including 17 solo stops, in his limited action.
He recorded his first career sack against Tulsa and also scooped up a fumble and returned it 82 yards for a touchdown against the Golden Hurricane. His 82-yard touchdown ranks as the fourth-longest fumble return in OSU history and is the longest fumble return by a Cowboy during the Mike Gundy era.
Kenneth Edison-McGruder came to Oklahoma State with a reputation as a high-intensity competitor with a knack for finding the ballcarrier. He has lived up to his reputation through his first three seasons and will look to leave his mark as one of the Cowboys' leaders in 2018.
