One Last Ride: Larry Williams
August 18, 2018 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER -Â Oklahoma State offensive lineman Larry Williams has taken a long and winding road to get to where he is today.
After spending his first three seasons at East Carolina and Hutchinson Community College, Williams joined the OSU family prior to the 2016 seasons.
Williams stepped in and made an immediate impact on the Cowboy offensive line, starting the season's first five games before succumbing to injury. In his limited action, he helped spur running back Justice Hill's impressive freshman campaign and protected one of the nation's most prolific passers in quarterback Mason Rudolph.
The Wilmington, North Carolina, native battled his way back from his setback though, and was able to dress for the regular-season finale at Oklahoma. He returned to on-field action in the Cowboys' win over No. 10 Colorado in the Alamo Bowl a few weeks later.
The 2017 unfortunately mirrored the 2016 season for Williams, as he again was a dominant force on the offensive line for Oklahoma State before an injury sustained in practice prior to the Cowboys' Big 12 opener against TCU ended his season. With Williams in the lineup, OSU averaged 54.0 points and 200 rushing yards per game during the season's first three contests.
Williams was granted a rare sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA this offseason and he will once again feature as one of the Cowboys' leaders on the offensive line.Â
