Sprang Rounds Out Trio of Cowgirl Softball Transfers
July 13, 2018 | Cowgirl Softball
STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State softball team added its third SEC transfer in the past two weeks Friday, as former Tennessee pitcher Gabby Sprang signed her letter of intent to join the Cowgirls beginning this fall. Sprang joins Samantha Show (Texas A&M) and Sydney Springfield (LSU) in head coach Kenny Gajewski's incoming class of transfers from the SEC.
Sprang, an incoming sophomore, notched a 3.40 earned run average in 35 innings pitched this past season with the Volunteers. She posted several impressive performances as a freshman, including a five-inning outing against Arizona State that marked the left-hander's collegiate debut.
The Rosemount, Minnesota, native allowed just one run and struck out four Sun Devils in her first action of the year and she continued to build on that performance in the months that followed. Sprang also notched four strikeouts against Missouri on March 10 and against Georgia on April 1. The 6-1 hurler also made appearances against South Carolina, LSU and Mississippi State during Tennessee's conference slate.
In high school, Sprang was a two-time Premier Girls Fastpitch All-American and the No. 3 overall prospect in FloSoftball's 2017 HOT 100 Rankings.
