Cowboy Baseball Opens NCAA DeLand Regional With South Florida

Third-seeded Oklahoma State (29-24-1) will take on No. 2-seed South Florida Friday at 12 p.m. (CST) in the opening game of the NCAA DeLand Regional at Stetson's Melching Field.
The Bulls are 35-20-1 on the season and are making their third NCAA Regional appearance in the last four years. USF was also a No. 2 seed in 2017 playing in the NCAA Gainesville Regional.
USF is expected to start senior Peter Strzelecki on the mound. The right-hander is 9-3 with a 3.81 ERA and has racked up 97 strikeouts in 87 1/3 innings.
Offensively, junior third baseman David Villar leads the Bulls with a .379 batting average and ranks in the top 10 nationally with 24 doubles to go along with 12 home runs and 55 RBIs, while junior Joe Genord has smacked 15 homers and posted 50 RBIs.
