Cowgirl Soccer Signs Icelandic Standout
May 16, 2018 | Cowgirl Soccer
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State has added forward Elena Brynjarsdottir to its 2018 incoming recruiting class, Cowgirl head coach Colin Carmichael announced today.
A native of Reykjavik, Iceland, Brynjarsdottir represented Iceland at the 2014 European U-17 Championship, and she has played in 14 games for the U-17 Iceland National Team, scoring three goals. She has also competed in the top division in Iceland with Breidablik and Grindabik.
"Elena is a very dangerous attacking player who has great speed and looks to dribble and take on defenders," Carmichael said. "She is technically very clean on the ball, and her understanding of the game and her movement off the ball is very good. She will be a threat to score and will help us create chances in the final third."
Brynjarsdottir, who chose OSU over Arkansas and South Alabama, becomes the eighth member of OSU's 2018 signing class, which was previously ranked No. 13 nationally by TopDrawerSoccer.com.
Brynjarsdottir attended high school at the Commercial College of Iceland and plans to study art at OSU.
