Teel Tabbed Big 12 Baseball's Top Hurler

IRVING, Texas – For the second time this season, Oklahoma State's Carson Teel is the Big 12 Conference Pitcher of the Week, it was announced today by the league office.
Teel dominated an Oklahoma lineup that entered the Bedlam Series second in the Big 12 in batting average and scoring as he tossed eight shutout innings and racked up a career-high 12 strikeouts to earn the win in the series opener.
The junior southpaw issued only one walk and allowed just five hits, and the 18th-ranked Sooners did not get a runner past first base until a one-out double in the seventh inning.
Teel's effort led OSU to its first shutout of the season as the Cowboys blanked OU by an 8-0 count.
With the win against the Sooners, Teel improved to 6-2 on the season and lowered his ERA to 2.86, which ranks third in the Big 12. He is also now second in the league with 72 strikeouts.
OSU has now had six weekly award winners in 2018 — Teel (pitcher of week, 4/9 & 4/30), Jon Littell (player of week, 4/2), Carson McCusker (newcomer of week, 4/2), Trevor Boone (co-player of week, 4/9) and Christian Funk (newcomer of week, 4/23).
