LAKELAND, Fla. – Brendon Jelley, a senior on the Oklahoma State men's golf team, posted a 72-hole total of 270 to finish third at the Mackenzie Tour — PGA Tour Canada U.S. East No. 2 qualifier at The Club at Eaglebrooke.
The Tulsa, Okla., native fired rounds of 68, 65, 70 and 67 to get to his 18-under total and earn status on the Tour. Jelley finished two shots behind runner-up Jake Mondy and three shots behind medalist Brad Miller.
"I am super excited," Jelley said. "Coming in, I didn't know where to place my expectations, but I felt good about my game, so it is great to see the results. A lot of hard work went into this, so I am very excited."
A total of 132 players competed during the week with hopes of earning cards for the 2018 season.
With his finish, Jelley is exempt for the Tour's first eight events and is subject to its second re-shuffle.
