Current and Former Cowboys Head to Vegas for U.S. Open

STILLWATER – A handful of current and former members of the Oklahoma State wrestling team will be in action this weekend at the UWW Junior Freestyle U.S. Open and Senior Men's Freestyle U.S. Open. Competition is set for this Friday and Saturday in Las Vegas.

Competing in the men's freestyle division will be Daton Fix (57kg), Eddie Klimara (57kg), John Morrison (61kg), Dean Heil (65kg), Josh Kindig (65kg), Alex Dieringer (79kg), Austin Schafer (97kg) and Cornelius Putnam (125kg).
Â
Kaden Gfeller (65kg), Travis Wittlake (79kg), Christian Bahl (79kg), Bear Hughes (86kg) and Austin Harris (92kg) will compete in the junior freestyle division.
Â
The U.S. Open serves as the largest World Team Trials qualifier for the men's freestyle division. The top seven wrestlers at each weight will advance to the World Team Trials Challenge Tournament in Rochester, Minn., next month.

The winners of the U.S. Open at 61 kg, 65 kg, 79 kg, 86 kg and 92 kg will advance to Final X, set for June, and the winners of the remaining weights, where a returning World medalist is present (57 kg, 70 kg, 74 kg, 97 kg and 125 kg), will earn an automatic bid to the best-of-three finals series at the Challenge Tournament.
