Cowboys in the NFL: Week 13
December 04, 2018 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER - Former Oklahoma State football standouts continued to make headlines and build the OSU brand across this NFL this past weekend in Week 13 of the regular season. A look at some of the highlights:
Raiders rookie wide receiver Marcell Ateman had perhaps the biggest moment of any former Cowboy this past weekend, hauling in his first career touchdown as a professional in Sunday's narrow defeat to the AFC-leading Chiefs. Ateman has played in three games since joining the Raiders' 53-man roster, catching nine passes for 82 yards and Sunday's touchdown in that time.
Â
Continuing on the trend of excellent rookie showings, Seahawks cornerback Tre Flowers recorded three tackles in Seattle's 43-16 rout of the rival 49ers. Flowers has amassed 51 total stops this year, forcing three fumbles and breaking up four passes as well along the way.
The rookie also took part in the NFL's #MyCauseMyCleats weekend, choosing to raise awareness for Alzheimer's disease.
Â
Flowers' teammate, running back Chris Carson also impressed in Sunday's division matchup. The second-year back logged 108 total yards, which included 69 rushing yards on 13 carries.
Carson has rushed for 704 yards and four touchdowns so far in 2018. With a strong final month of the regular season, Carson could become the first OSU running back to rush for 1,000 yards in the NFL since Tatum Bell tallied 1,025 yards with the Broncos in 2006.
Brute strength and incredible athletic feats like the one below have played a key role in Carson's success this season.
Â
Moving back to the defensive side of the ball, Browns defensive end Emmauel Ogbah had perhaps his best game in a Cleveland uniform this season, racking up a season-high six tackles and a sack in Sunday's loss at Houston. Ogbah has battled through injury this season, but has totaled 30 tackles and three sacks as one of the Browns' top edge-rushing options.
Â
Chargers offensive tackle Russell Okung rounds out the week on a lighter note, going viral across social media for the alma mater he stated in Sunday Night Football's starting lineup package. Rest assured though, OSU fans, Okung is still a Cowboy for life!
Viral videos aside, Sunday was still a great day for Okung and the Chargers, as they mounted an incredible comeback to down the Steelers, 33-30, in Pittsburgh. The Chargers started the season 1-2, but have gone on an 8-1 tear since to stay within a game of the Chiefs at the top of the AFC West, and conference, standings.
