Postgame Quotes: Oklahoma State vs. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi
December 29, 2018 | Cowboy Basketball
Oklahoma State Head Coach Mike Boynton
Opening Statement:
"I thought that we did some things better, again we are not totally in sync. There was some over dribbling maybe, but definitely something we will continue to work on."
On the team's chemistry:
"They are in really good shape it's actually what I've felt most good about even during that four game losing streak. There was no finger pointing, they are picking each other up in practice and they have each other's backs."
On going into Big 12 play:
"There is a reason why the schedule was made the way it was. I wanted them to be challenged and not walk into conference play unprepared. This was a good showing and I'll take the ten point win."
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi head coach Willis Wilson
On his team's performance:
"I really think it's a maturity thing. We find ourselves, as a basketball team, in a situation where something needs to happen. We think we have to play individual basketball to make that something happen. The truth of the matter is teamwork, teamwork, teamwork. We're getting there, we're making progress, but we just haven't turned that corner yet. I liked that we're getting a lot of good looks, we're doing things in a much faster and more amenable way that fits what we do."
On the team's ability to create shots:
"As a result (of creating shots), our turnover numbers are going down. I'd like to see us get to the free throw line more. I'd like to see someone outside of Myles Smith driving the ball. Myles was a little banged up, so we needed someone to pick up that mantle. That's where Dashawn (Talon) and Jake Basic need to do a better job. Elijah (Schmidt) has played really good basketball in back-to-back games, I'm really happy for him."
On the team's mindset going into conference play:
"We have to (approach conference play 0-0), we've done a lot of really good things. We're getting better and we're much further along than where we were at the start of the season. To come here, on the road, against a Big 12 team, and play a game like this, I thought we did a good job. We controlled the tempo at times, and I thought (Oklahoma State) controlled the tempo when they needed to. We're going to keep working and getting better."
