December 10, 2018 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's Britton Abbott and Justice Hill were honored Monday as part of the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America Division I football team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
It is the second consecutive season for both Abbott and Hill to be honored on the team as they become the sixth and seventh two-time recipients in OSU history. The honors also gives OSU five total selections to the team over the past two seasons, marking the most of any school in FBS during that timeframe. Additionally, OSU is one of just five schools in FBS with multiple honorees this season.
The pair of selections this season also gives Oklahoma State 22 CoSIDA Academic All-America honors all-time, including seven in the past six years.
Abbott is a first team honoree this season and was a second team selection in 2017. A graduate student with a 4.00 GPA in his MBA program, he has also been honored as a first team Academic All-Big 12 selection three times and was OSU's 2017-18 Male Student-Athlete of the Year. Abbott has played in 39 career games, including every game each of the past two seasons. He has played an instrumental role both on specials teams and as a Cowboy Back in the OSU offense.
Hill is a second team honoree this season and was a first team selection in 2017. A junior running back out of Tulsa, Hill is studying finance and was honored with a 3.64 GPA. He is also a two-time selection to the Academic All-Big 12 first team. On the field, Hill missed part of the 2018 regular season with an injury, but still put up 93.0 yards per game on the season to rank among the conference leaders. After playing just under three seasons, Hill ranks fourth in OSU history at 98.63 career rushing yards per game and fourth in school history with 19 career 100-yard rushing games.
