What the Media Are Saying: Baylor
November 03, 2018 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER - A resilient effort from the Oklahoma State football team led the Cowboys to a victory over No. 6 Texas last weekend and those headlines dominated the early portion of the week, but the focus quickly shifted toward OSU's meeting with Baylor in Waco, Texas, today. A look at what the media are saying ahead of today's matchup:
Tulsa World reporter Mark Cooper zoned in on the OSU secondary after last weekend's performance against the Longhorns, profiling cornerback A.J. Green as a leader of the unit. Green told Cooper that one of his reasons for coming to Oklahoma State was the challenges that the opposing offenses in the Big 12 provide a cornerback, and that while the Cowboys cracked the code against Texas, Baylor provides an entirely new challenge this week.
The Oklahoman's Scott Wright also highlighted Green's performance last weekend, and how he and the Cowboys plan to stop a talented and experienced group of Baylor wideouts today in Waco.Â
Green told Wright what he learned from fomer OSU standout Ashton Lampkin, saying that "When he was here, he used to take notes on a sheet of paper."
"He did that all the way up to the game," Green continued. "I don't want to carry around paper, so I just put it on my phone. I like to have it fresh on my mind right before we go out."
The Oklahoman's weekly coverage also provided insight into how the Cowboys' simplified gameplan last week helped a struggling defensive unit feel more comfortable, and become more successful, on the field.
Oklahoma State's chase for bowl eligibility continues today in Waco, Texas, where a scrappy Baylor squad awaits coach Mike Gundy and his Cowboys. Kickoff at McLane Stadium is set for 11 a.m. CT on FS1.
