Kevin Tway Earns First Career Tour Victory At Safeway Open

NAPA, Calif. — Former Oklahoma State All-American Kevin Tway notched his first career PGA Tour victory on Sunday at the Safeway Open, downing Ryan Moore on the third playoff at Silverado Resort and Spa.

Tway found his way into the playoff with Moore and Brandt Snedeker after posting a closing 1-under 71, which included birdies at Nos. 17 and 18 to join the other two players for extra holes.

The Edmond, Okla., native posted a 14-under total of 274 with scores of 68, 67, 68 and 71.

The trio returned to the par-5 18th where Tway and Moore played on after posting birdies. The duo birdied the 18th again to move on to the 10th hole. Tway rolled in a 10-foot putt for his fifth birdie in a row to earn the victory. With his triumph, Tway pocketed $1,152,000.

Tway, who won the Web.com Tour's Albertsons Boise Open in 2013, joins his father, Bob, as a Tour winner. The elder Tway won eight times on the PGA Tour, including the 1986 PGA Championship.
