Cowboy Trio to Wrestle in NWCA All-Star Duals

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State will be well represented in Denver, Colo., this weekend as Kaid Brock, Jacobe Smith and Derek White make the trip to wrestle at the 53rd Annual National Wrestling Coaches Association All-Star Classic.
The All-Star Classic is an exhibition dual that showcases some of the best wrestlers from across the country at each weight class. This year the bouts are set for Nov. 2 at the National Western Complex. The appearances mark the 42nd time in 53 years the Cowboys have been represented at the event. In 2017, then redshirt sophomore Nick Piccininni knocked off defending NCAA Champion Darian Cruz of Lehigh.
Brock will take the mat in the 141-pound bout against Ohio State's Joey McKenna. The Cowboy put together another All-America campaign at 133 pounds in 2018, finishing fifth at the NCAA Tournament and compiling a 30-5 record on the year. McKenna finished the 2018 season in Cleveland with a third-place finish at 141 pounds.
Redshirt senior Jacobe Smith is set to grapple with Michigan's Myles Amine in the 174-pound matchup. In his first season as a Cowboy, Smith collected a 22-8 record, knocked off four ranked opponents and garnered his first All-America recognition at 174 pounds. He finished eighth at the NCAA Championships after being selected as the No. 13 seed.
Heavyweight Derek White squares off with Maryland's Youssif Hemida in the 285-pound dual on Friday. White is coming off a 25-4 season for the Cowboys, in which he claimed his first Big 12 title and NCAA Tournament bid.
