Sinor Named to Ray’s 8 List for Week Five
October 01, 2018 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State punter Zach Sinor received national recognition for his performance at Kansas, as he is one of eight punters in college football included on the Ray Guy Award's Ray's 8 list this week.
Sinor played a key role in OSU's 48-28 win over the Jayhawks Saturday, with three of his four punts on the day pinning KU inside of its own 20-yard line. Sinor's punts averaged 46.2 yards and started Kansas drives at its own 6-, 15- and 16-yard lines, while a fourth punt nearly pinned KU inside the 5-yard line before finding its way into the end zone for a touchback.
After missing the first three games of the season, Sinor has punted nine times this year with an average of 48.1 yards, including a career-long 67-yard punt on his first touch of 2018. Four of those punts have been downed inside the 20 and just one has resulted in a touchback.
Sinor was a semifinalist for the Ray Guy Award in 2016 after leading all FBS punters with 62.5 percent of his punts downed inside the 20-yard line, a figure that was nearly 10 percent better than second place. He has also been named an all-Big 12 performer on the field and in the classroom during his career.
The Ray Guy Award national punter of the week will be selected from the Ray's 8 list and announced Wednesday. Fans are encouraged to tweet @RayGuyAward to let them know why their punter should be the national punter of the week.
