Oklahoma State’s Okung Earns Spot in NFL Pro Bowl

STILLWATER – For the second time in his career, Oklahoma State graduate Russell Okung has earned a spot in the NFL Pro Bowl, it was announced today. His selection marks the 57th all-time Pro Bowl nod for OSU and the 14th straight season in which a Cowboy has earned a spot in the game.
Okung helped the Los Angeles Chargers lead the NFL in fewest sacks allowed this season and he also helped running back Melvin Gordon rush for over 1,000 yards for the first time in his career. The Chargers had the league's top-ranked passing offense.
A first-round draft pick of the Seattle Seahawks in 2010 (sixth overall), Okung was a Pro Bowler in 2013, the same season that he was honored as the Seahawks' man of the year for his work in the community. During his time in Seattle, he helped lead the Seahawks to back-to-back appearances in the Super Bowl in 2014 (a win over the Broncos) and in 2015 (a loss to the Patriots).
During his time in Stillwater, Okung was a unanimous All-America selection and a finalist for the Outland Trophy in 2009. He was an instrumental part of an Oklahoma State offense that ranked among the nation's best in 2008 and finished his career having started 47 games in a Cowboy uniform.
The 2018 NFL Pro Bowl is set for 2 p.m. CT on Sunday, January 28 in Orlando's Camping World Stadium.
