Cowgirl Soccer: Rewind & A Look Ahead

Oklahoma State remained undefeated in 2017 following a road trip to Texas last weekend as the Cowgirls went into College Station Friday night and tied 12^th-ranked Texas A&M, 2-2, before cruising to a 6-0 win at UTSA on Sunday. Up next, the Cowgirls return home to host Illinois and Abilene Christian this weekend.

Weekend Highlights

In improving to 5-0-1, OSU is off to its best start since 2012 when it opened the season with six-straight wins.
The tie against Texas A&M marked only the second time OSU has earned a point in College Station as the Cowgirls are now 0-7-2 on the Aggies' home field. The other tie came in 2011.
Senior Anna Beffer contributed to half of OSU's eight goals over the weekend as she tallied a goal and three assists.
Freshman Taylor Olson became the 11^th different player in OSU history to record a hat trick when she collected three goals at UTSA on Sunday. She is the first Cowgirl to score three goals in a game since Krista Lopez set a school record with four against Arkansas-Little Rock in 2011.
Olson achieved her hat trick in a span of just 6:43 as she scored at the 74:51, 77:58 and 81:34 marks.
Junior Haley Woodard saw her first action of the season Friday at TAMU and recorded a goal with 4:09 remaining to tie the match at 2-2. She added a pair of assists vs. UTSA on Sunday.
OSU's 6-0 win over UTSA marked its third shutout of the season, while the six goals were a season high and marked the third game this season in which the Cowgirls have scored four or more goals.

Stat Speak

OSU, Texas and Baylor are the only undefeated teams remaining in the Big 12 Conference through the first three weeks of 2017. The Longhorns are 5-0-0, while BU is 4-0-1.
OSU has outscored its opponents 20-4 on the season, and 12 different Cowgirls have recorded goals. The Cowgirls rank fourth nationally in goals and seventh in scoring offense at 3.33 goals per game.
The Cowgirls lead the Big 12 in goals (20), points (59) and corner kicks (48). They rank second in the league in shots (101) and assists (19).
With her hat trick against UTSA, Taylor Olson now has four goals on the season, which is tied for the Big 12 lead.
Anna Beffer's six assists lead the NCAA and mark her career high. With two more assists, she will enter the top 10 on OSU's single season and career lists.
Olson and Beffer are tied for third in the Big 12 with eight points apiece. Marlo Zoller, Jaci Jones and Charmé Morgan are each tied for sixth in the league with six points.
Michela Ongaro's eight saves against Texas A&M was one shy of her career high set last season at Memphis.

Rankings

OSU entered one national poll for the first time this season and moved up in another.
After debuting at No. 19 in last week's United Soccer Coaches poll, the Cowgirls moved up to No. 18 this week.
OSU made its first 2017 appearance in the TopDrawerSoccer.com rankings this week as it occupies the No. 25 spot.
The Cowgirls are No. 3 in the United Soccer Coaches South Region rankings. West Virginia holds the top spot followed by Kansas.

OSU hosts Illinois Friday at 4 p.m. at the Cowgirl Soccer Complex.
Illinois is 3-3-0 on the season and coming off road wins at Evansville and Miami (Ohio) last weekend. The Fighting Illini have been outscored by a 9-7 margin this season.
The Cowgirls won their only previous meeting with Illinois, that coming in 2011 in the second round of the NCAA Women's Soccer Championship in Stillwater. OSU claimed a 1-0 victory in that game to advance to the Sweet 16.
Following the showdown vs. Illinois, the Cowgirls will conclude the weekend with a home match against Abilene Christian Sunday at 1 p.m.
Abilene Christian is 1-3-0 on the season and faces Texas-Permian Basin tonight before a Friday night match against Oral Roberts.
OSU's only previous match against ACU came last season in Stillwater with the Cowgirls claiming a 2-0 win.
