STILLWATER - The Oklahoma State football team is coming off a 59-24 victory over Tulsa in its season opener, but the Cowboys have already shifted focus to their week two foe, South Alabama. OSU is set to face the Jaguars this coming Friday, September 8, at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Alabama.
The Jaguars are coming off a tough 47-27 road loss to Ole Miss during their first game of the 2017 college football season. Of the talking points from South Alabama's opening-week performance was Ole Miss quarterback Shea Patterson's display through the air against the Jaguars' defense.
Patterson found wide receiver A.J. Brown in the end zone twice during the third quarter, which helped Ole Miss break open what was a 13-10 game at halftime. Both touchdowns covered more than 70 yards, with the first being a 71-yard connection and the second a 77-yard touchdown. Patterson finished with 429 yards passing and four touchdowns against the Jaguars' defense.
On the offensive side of the ball, South Alabama did showcase its talent against an SEC defense, as quarterback Cole Garvin threw for more than 200 yards and scored two rushing touchdowns. The Jaguars also out-rushed Ole Miss, 170-102.
Oklahoma State's clash with South Alabama is scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m. on ESPN2.
