STILLWATER – Oklahoma State continues Big 12 play this weekend with a showdown at Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock, Texas against Texas Tech.
The Red Raiders come into this week's affair with a 3-0 record, which includes an impressive road win over Houston and a 52-45 triumph against Arizona State two weeks ago.
TTU's offense is led by quarterback Nic Shimonek, who has amassed some impressive numbers through the first quarter of the Red Raiders' season. Shimonek has completed 92 of his 125 passes for 1,248 yards and 11 touchdowns to only one interception.
Along with Shimonek, Texas Tech fields a variety of talent at the skill positions, including running back Justin Stockton, who has tallied 202 rushing yards on 30 carries this season. Wide receiver Keke Coutee has also been a stand-out performer this season, as the junior has already recorded 446 receiving yards and four touchdowns this season. Coutee's 446 yards ranks second in the Big 12, behind only OSU wideout James Washington (520 yards).
Texas Tech leads the all-time series between the two schools, 21-20-3, but the Cowboys have dominated the Red Raiders during head coach Mike Gundy's tenure. In the 12 matchups since Gundy took control of the program, OSU has been victorious in 10 of those affairs, including each of the last eight.
Aside from an electric offense, turnovers have been one of the biggest factors in TTU's success this season. The Red Raiders currently rank sixth in the nation with only two turnovers lost and 13th nationally with an impressive nine turnovers gained. Five of Texas Tech's nine turnovers forced this season came last Saturday during a road victory over Houston.
Saturday's contest at Jones AT&T Stadium should be one of college football's most exciting games this weekend. Kickoff is schedule for 7 p.m. on FOX.
