Cowboy Golf Mourns The Loss of Gary Wilcox

ADA, Okla. – Gary Wilcox, a former member of the Oklahoma State golf team, passed away on August 5 at the age of 63.
A 1971 graduate of Ada High School, Wilcox attended OSU for three years on a golf scholarship before returning to Ada and receiving his degree in business administration from East Central University.
Immediately upon graduating from college, he became an assistant golf professional at Pinehurst Country Club in Pinehurst, N.C. His first head golf professional position was at the prestigious Country Club of Orlando in Orlando, Fla.
Wilcox's first general manager position was working for the PGA TOUR at The TPC at Eagle Trace in Coral Springs, Fla. He then moved on to become the general manager at Tiburón Golf Club at The Ritz-Carlton Resorts of Naples in Naples, Fla., where he opened the new facility and was responsible for its successful operation for 13 years.
Wilcox also served as a Director for the Golf Digest Instructional School. He was a member of the Club Manager's Association of America and had been a member of the PGA of America for 38 years.
Memorial services for Wilcox will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel in Ada. A reception will follow at Oak Hills Golf and Country Club.
