What the Media Are Saying: OSU vs. Tulsa
August 31, 2017 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State hosts Tulsa tonight at 6:30 p.m. at Boone Pickens Stadium, with the game televised by FS1.
Looking forward to the game, state media have covered several angles regarding the Cowboys and their prospects heading into the 2017 campaign.
The Oklahoman's Jenni Carlson wrote this story on linebacker Chad Whitener and how his brother helped shape his mentality, on and off the field. The story showcases Whitener's growth in recent years and the ways in which he has helped mold those around him.
John Helsey, also of The Oklahoman, discussed the comparisons between the 2017 and 2011 Oklahoma State football teams. While the offense has received plenty of hype in the preseason, the OSU defense has largely gone under the radar. Helsely examines the comparisons to that 2011 team and how this year's defense might be able to measure up to that squad.
When it comes to preseason discussion, very few teams in the country have received more attention than Oklahoma State. The Tulsa World's Mark Cooper broke down the list of preseason accolades the Cowboys have received, but he also noted that now is the time to prove whether that attention was deserved.
Cooper wrote that "every game the Cowboys play from here will either validate the preseason accolades or disappoint them."
As pointed out by coaches, players and members of the media, everything from this point matters. The preseason is over and tonight at 6:30 p.m., a raucous Boone Pickens Stadium will welcome the start of another Oklahoma State football season.
