Oklahoma State Postgame Notes vs. Tulsa
The Oklahoma State win…
• Marked its sixth-straight win over Tulsa and its 10th win in the last 12 meetings with the Golden Hurricane.
• Improved OSU's all-time record in season openers to 70-41-5, all-time record in season openers at home to 49-7-4 and all-time record in home openers to 83-28-5.
• Gave the Cowboys wins in nine of their last 10, 12 of their last 14 and 29 of their last 37 season openers.
• Marked OSU's 22nd-straight win in a home opener and 42nd win in its last 48 home openers.
• Improved Mike Gundy's record in non-conference games to 42-11 and his record against Tulsa to 3-0.
• Improved OSU to 25-5 in its last 30 non-conference games.
• Gave OSU wins in nine of its last 10 games overall.
• Improved OSU to 53-6 in its last 59 games against unranked opponents, dating back to 2010.
• Made OSU 33-7 at home since the start of the 2011 season.
:: Mason Rudolph finished with 303 yards, marking the 13th 300-yard passing game of his career.
:: At the end of the first quarter, OSU had outgained TU, 216-46. Rudolph was 9-of-10 for 179 yards and two touchdowns with a passer rating of 306.4.
:: Kenneth Edison McGruder's 82-yard fumble return for a score marked OSU's fourth-longest fumble return in school history and the longest since a 93-yard return by T. Robinson at Kansas in 2002.
:: That also marked OSU's 40th non-offensive touchdown since 2010 – the third most in nation during that stretch.
:: OSU has forced a turnover in 15 consecutive games.
:: Receiver Tyron Johnson caught a 44-yard touchdown pass from Mason Rudolph on his first career target at Oklahoma State.
:: That score marked the fifth time in the Gundy era that OSU has scored on its first possession of the season, and the first time since 2012.
:: Outside of a 334-yard performance vs. TCU, the Cowboys did not rush for more than 230 yards in a game last season. They finished today's game with 332 rushing yards.
:: Tonight's game featured a sellout crowd of 56,790. Last year's stadium capacity was 60,218.
:: James Washington finished with 145 receiving yards, marking the 13th 100-yard game of his career his sixth 100-yard performance in the last nine games. He also scored two receiving touchdowns, improving his FBS-best career receiving touchdowns among active players to 28.
:: He has also caught a pass in 33-straight games.
:: Jalen McCleskey has caught a pass in 23-straight games.
:: Marcell Ateman's 49-yard catch in the first quarter marked his first catch since the Sugar Bowl at the end of the 2015 season. He missed all of last season due to injury.
:: Seven different Cowboys scored a touchdown in the contest, including four different rushers.
:: Last season Zach Sinor led the nation by a wide margin with 62.5 percent of his punts downed inside the opponent's 20-yard line. He punted two times today and one was downed inside the 20.
:: True freshman running back J.D. King rushed for a 71-yard touchdown on his second career carry. It marked OSU's longest rushing play since Herschel Sims had an 81-yard touchdown against Baylor on Oct. 29, 2011.
:: Justice Hill finished with 132 rushing yards, marking the seventh game of his career with at least 100 yards on the ground. It also marked the fourth time in the last five games he's rushed for 100 yards. In those five games, he has averaged 122.2 yards per contest.
:: QB Mason Rudolph, WR James Washington, S Tre Flowers and LB Kirk Tucker served as Oklahoma State captains for today's game.
:: The 59 points scored by the Cowboys tied the ninth-best total in a season opener in school history. OSU also scored 59 against Wichita State in 1974.
