August 29, 2017 | Cowgirl Soccer
IRVING, Texas – A pair of Oklahoma State players earned conference honors for their play during the second week of the season as Charmé Morgan was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week and Kim Rodriguez collected Big 12 Freshman of the Week accolades, it was announced by the league office today.
The duo led OSU to a pair of wins last weekend to help the Cowgirls improve to 4-0-0, their best start to a season since 2012.
Morgan, a sophomore wingback, recorded goals in both OSU games and aided a defensive unit that allowed only one score against it, while Rodriguez notched her first-career goal and assist.
In Friday's win at Oklahoma, Morgan's goal in the 56th minute proved to be the game winner in a 2-1 victory for the Cowgirls as OSU snapped a four-game losing streak against the Sooners. On Sunday vs. Creighton, Morgan netted OSU's second goal in a 4-0 win. She finished the weekend with four shots, three of those on goal.
Morgan leads OSU and the Big 12 with three goals this season after entering 2017 without a goal in 20 career games. Two of those goals have been game winners, a total that also leads the league.
A midfielder, Rodriguez recorded her first collegiate goal and the first goal of the match at OU as she knocked in a corner kick in the 39th minute. On Sunday, she tallied her first-career assist on OSU's final goal. She finished the weekend with three shots, two of those on frame.
