Cowboys Debut at No. 10 in Preseason AP Poll

STILLWATER – The preseason Associated Press Poll was released Monday, with the Oklahoma State football team debuting at No. 10.
The ranking marks the 10th-consecutive season the Cowboys have appeared in the AP Poll, and the third time in the last nine years OSU has started the season in the top 10 of the poll. The Cowboys were ranked No. 9 in 2009 and 2011.
Additionally, it marks the 12th season OSU has appeared in the top 10 of the poll.
The Cowboys return several starters from last year's team that finished as Alamo Bowl champions. They also wrapped up last season at No. 11 in the final AP Poll.
It marked the culmination of another successful year in Stillwater, as the Cowboys have won 10 games in five of the last seven seasons and averaged 9.7 wins per year since 2010. Oklahoma State ranks 11th nationally with 68 wins this decade.
As one of five Big 12 teams in the inaugural 2017 ranking AP Poll, OSU joins No. 7 Oklahoma, No. 20 Kansas State, No. 22 West Virginia and No. 23 Texas.
The Cowboys open the season Thursday, Aug. 31, as they host the Tulsa Golden Hurricane in Boone Pickens Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on FS1 and tickets are available at okstate.com/tickets.
