STILLWATER – Oklahoma State offensive tackle Zach Crabtree has been a key part of the Cowboys' success during the past three seasons as a starter on the offensive line. Now entering his senior campaign, Crabtree will lead the line one final time in 2017.
Crabtree first arrived in Stillwater prior to the 2013 season. After redshirting that first year, he immediately stepped in as a contributor at right tackle in 2014. He played in nine games that year, which included making eight starts.
The Mansfield, Texas native also found immediate success off the classroom during his freshman campaign, as he was selected to the Academic All-Big 12 second team for the first time in his OSU career.
Crabtree displayed his mettle during an injury-plagued freshman campaign, and when the 2015 season rolled around, he had earned the respect of teammates and coaches alike and solidified his place as the offensive line's leader.
He started every game as a sophomore in 2015 and the OSU coaches also awarded him with the Vernon Grant Award, which is given annually to players that show outstanding leadership, spirit and enthusiasm.
Crabtree continued to find tremendous success on the field during his junior season in 2016, as he once again started in every game at right tackle for the Cowboys.
During his third season as a starter, Crabtree helped turn the OSU offensive line back into a considerable force. He also played a major role in All-American Justice Hill becoming the first freshman in school history to surpass 1,000 rushing yards in a season.
With Crabtree as an anchor at right tackle, the Cowboys went from averaging 3.6 yards per carry and 126.8 yards per game in 2015 to averaging 4.5 yards per carry and 171.0 yards per game in 2016. Oklahoma State's running backs also totaled 25 rushing touchdowns in 2016, a mark which matched the two-year total from 2014 and 2015 combined.
Crabtree's success on the gridiron was rewarded during the postseason awards, as he was named to the All-Big 12 second team by the league's coaches.
Through his first three seasons, Zach Crabtree has cemented his place as one of the Cowboys' leaders on the offensive line. This year, he'll look to write the final chapter of his storied Oklahoma State career.
