Stories of Gratitude - Mike Gundy
August 12, 2017 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER - Oklahoma State football head coach Mike Gundy has been one of the most influential figures in team history. On Saturday, he took time out of celebrating his 50th birthday to discuss his story of gratitude.
"I am proud of what Oklahoma State football has become," Gundy stated. "I'm proud of our players and coaches that have created a culture of winning, and winning the right way."
Gundy ran through a list of several notable Cowboy alumni, including the 1988 Heisman Trophy winner Barry Sanders and current Dallas Cowboys standouts Dez Bryant and Dan Bailey.
"We know who we are and we know our values," Gundy said. "We keep our focus on those values, which allows us to find success."
The OSU head coach also ran down several of the program's significant achievements. He noted that the Cowboys have: won at least 10 games in five of the last seven seasons, played in four New Year's Six bowl games since 2010, and producing 17 NFL draft picks, including six first-round selections, since 2008. Gundy also mentioned the pride he takes in the success that his players have had in the classroom during his tenure.
"We develop the player, but more importantly develop the person," Gundy said. "We do everything from the inside out. I'm proud of what Cowboy football has become."
