Washington, McCleskey Included on Biletnikoff Award Watch List

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State standouts James Washington and Jalen McCleskey are two of 46 wide receivers named to the 2017 Biletnikoff Award Pre-Season Watch List, the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation, Inc. announced Tuesday
The Biletnikoff Award annually recognizes the most outstanding receiver in college football. Any player, regardless of position (wide receiver, tight end, slot back and running back) who catches a pass is eligible to receive the award.
Washington is entering his senior season at the Cowboys' top target at wide receiver. He is ranked as the No. 1 senior receiver in the country by Mel Kiper and is listed as the best returning receiver in college football heading into 2017 by ESPN.com's Adam Rittenberg and by Athlon Sports.
His 26 career receiving touchdowns mark the highest total among all active FBS players heading into 2017, and he leads all active receivers from Power Five conferences with 2,923 career receiving yards and 19.2 career yards per reception.
Washington is one of only three Cowboys ever with 10 or more receiving touchdowns in multiple seasons, joining two-time Biletnikoff Award winner Justin Blackmon and Rashaun Woods; and he is one of five Oklahoma State players in history with multiple 1,000-yard season, joining Blackmon, Woods, Hart Lee Dykes and Adarius Bowman.
Meanwhile, McCleskey led Oklahoma State with 73 receptions in 2016 and ranked second on the squad behind Washington with 812 receiving yards and seven receiving touchdowns. His 73 receptions were good for third in the Big 12 in 2016 and are tops among all returning Big 12 players in 2017.
McCleskey made at least two catches in all 13 of Oklahoma State's games in 2016, which included a career-best 11 catches against both West Virginia and Central Michigan.
He was also one of four Cowboy to surpass 100 receiving yards in a single game in 2016, as he did so on three occasions. McCleskey's 129 receiving yards vs. Kansas last season marked a career high for the Covington, Louisiana native.
The 2017 Biletnikoff Award winner will be presented live on December 7, 2017, on The Home Depot College Football Awards Show to be broadcast on ESPN.
